Scouts

Scouting is great fun and can be very challenging. It is a wonderful place to make lots of friends. You have opportunities to meet other scouts from all around the state, around Australia and sometimes from overseas.

There is always lots to do in Scouts - you can experience camping, hiking cooking your own meals, campfires, boating, games and community services.

Scouts range in age from 10.5 to 15 years of age. It's for boys and girls alike.

Our scout troop meets at the hall every Friday evening from 7.30pm - 9:30pm.

Some of the Skills that we learn include:

	CampCraft - weekend camping, organisation and knowledge of safety equipment
	Citizenship - awareness of community organisations, first aid, heritage and community service
	Air activities - knowledge of weather conditions, aircraft recognition, visit airport or make models.
	Construction - plan projects build a chariot and camp gadgets.
	Environment - natural recycling and environmental management
	Water Safety - swim, demonstrate rescue techniques
	Emergencies - understand an emergency, do first aid and visit hospitals or other locations.
	Water Activities - Learn safe boating procedures

A typical night consists of 'parade' where we salute the Australian Flag, after the formalities we then have a game that maybe run by one of the patrol leaders or we may do some badge work, we always finish with 'parade' by closing the flag and undertaking any other formalities.

Scouting is fun. It is a great place to be. Everyone who goes, thoroughly enjoys it. I think that it is an opportunity of a lifetime.

We all have something in common! we have chosen to be here. It is cool, it is full of interesting people. We have camps every two months where we learn our bush craft skills and orienteering, we learn how to cook on an open fire, we put up tents, we learn bush safety and above all we learn respect for ourselves and the country that we live in.

We will go bowling as a group, ice-skating, rock climbing, we do all sorts of cool stuff!

4th Kingsgrove scouts is a group like no other, and it would be very hard to find such great leaders as those with 4th K.
